We live next to a family who own two of these dogs. Whilst they are lovely they bark for hours on end day and night and keep our kids awake. Is there any way to train them not to bark so much and for so long?

I opened your site and became fancinated by what i saw and read ,I reside in Ibadan,Nigeria,i used to own a massive alsatian which i never used to mate for 5years until i lost it in 2010.I am interested in dog breeding and big mastif fits into what i like as a dog:
1) Can i breed Tibetan mastiff / English mastiff successfully in Nigeria since the climate is tropical ?
2)How can i get a pure breed of these massive dogs in / to Nigeria,Africa?
3)To make my aspiration become a reality, can your organisation or one of your members serves as a consultant to me?

Hi all,my wife and i are in the looking at getting our first tm puppy(bitch)and wondered if anyone had any advice?...We have had a lot of large dog breed experience and currently have a five year old Bernese male and a two year old lab bitch. We've only been able to find one book on tms(juliette cunliffe)and looking on the web is a bit hit and miss. We live in Cornwall and work from running a Yurt holiday site so we have plenty of time to give to our new pup. We have contacted a breeder in Somerset and we are going to see her and meet her dogs after xmas. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you
Hi, We have finally got our web site up and running, still needs tweeking but is workable. Please visit, www.highedgetibetanmastiffs.com. Hope you like it..John and Helen Harrison

Hi Kevin,
I tend to agree with Lynn, 24 or below would enable the breed to move forward without thinning the gene pool too drastically, too quickly, although I agree the aim should be to have dogs with scores lower than that- would that we were in that positon. These matters need to be lead from the front.Jeff.
hello Anne, someone with sense, yes i would support a ban on breeding with high hip scores, but even lower than 24, our cTM lub gasps in horror at this idea, but good breeders can and should put breeding clause's in all puppy contracts, and anyone ignoring the ban/clause should be lampooned, banned from any TM club, banned from KC registration, bla bla bla, anyway, good comments, shame the UK TM owners don't contribute to this site.

its been a while since i have visited the site, and it seems am not alone, what a poor response to my request last year, and what a poor use of this fine web site, which was requsted for by members, and built for members to use, shame shame shame

Great website and congratulations to all involved. I was disappointed to see that there is no real ban on breeding from dysplastic dogs in the code of ethics. May I suggest that you improve on the code of ethics by inserting a clause which prohibits breeding from dogs with hip scores over a total of 24? Lyn Peel KYEHO TIBETAN MASTIFFS AUSTRALIA.

This is my first entry on the TMC site, I will be on it a lot in the future and intend to communicate, assist and befriend anyone who loves the Tibetan mastiff. Our Breed affix is CHENPOKHYI Tibetan Mastiffs (chenpo = big or large and khyi = dog in Tibetan), pictures of all our TM's will follow.
My first question to members, breeders and guests is about the genetic desease ENTROPION. Our 3rd TM Zelda had entropion, and it was so bad we had to get her operated on, she is still fit and well. I am trying to trace any owners who has had eye problems, especially Entropion, so that i can try and plot a breed lineage to help stop and breed out this desease. If you want to remain annom my email is kevin@rosedenecattery.com and my address and number in any pre 2008 show catalogues
i hope this starts a lively debate

Just returned from the SGM in Tamworth. To use a quote from one of the proposers of the motion, "the truth will out", and didn't it just. We are so pleased with the outcome.Moose and the girls have had a wonderful day with their Uncle. However he was so glad to have us home . Thank-you Caroline and Mark for such a wonderful boy,as we both said, it,s about the breed and the club and nobody's personal differences.
Long may the TMC of GB remain, you can only get stronger after this.
Love and kisses from Darchen Jetsan and his humans.XXXXXX
